About Carmen Murphy

Carmen became a licensed real estate agent in 2000 and joined her partner, Margaret Martinez, at that time.  Both Carmen and Margaret hold licenses in Maryland and Washington, DC, and are Seniors Real Estate Specialists (SRES®). Carmen is also a Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI), a certified Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA), and Certified Probate Specialist (CPRES®).  She has served on several committees at her local board of REALTORS®, the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (GCAAR) including the Professional Development Committee, Education Committee, and currently, the Forms Committee. The Forms Committee is responsible for updating and drafting the contracts and addenda used in the GCAAR region.

Carmen’s working knowledge of real estate began as a young girl. As Margaret's daughter, she grew up hearing all about real estate and learned first-hand how important homes are to families.  Some of her fondest memories are of  “helping” her mom host Open Houses in the mid-1970s! “That’s where I really learned about the importance of customer service and value pricing,” she reflects. Times have changed, and technology has enhanced the process, but it's still about customer service and value pricing.

A graduate of Fordham University in New York, Carmen earned a B.A. in History/Media Studies and then went on to receive a M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education & Elementary Education from Trinity College here in the District. She taught in the Washington, D.C. and Montgomery County, MD school systems for seven years.

Carmen resides in Rockville, MD with her husband Sean, their daughters Mollie and Colleen,  a Lab named Alzie, and a Great Dane named Pepper.
